Project Overview

The Southeast Transmission Main Project involves three key components:
- Designing and constructing a pipeline to ensure dependable, high-quality drinking water for residents of southeastern Sacramento area
- Transporting water from the Fairbairn Water Treatment Plant to southeast Sacramento
- Involving local residents and businesses to help the project team determine the best possible alignment
The City of Sacramento Department of Utilities (DOU) is currently evaluating several proposed alignments for the Southeast Transmission Main Project. DOU is using the following the criteria to help in its selection process:
- Control project costs
- Provide safe access for pipeline maintenance and operations
- Utilize existing right of way
- Minimize utility conflicts
- Find most suitable soils
- Minimize traffic impacts
- Minimize environmental impacts
- Collect public input
